Why not to buy $700 boards?
Most boards in this price range are using a low-density foam core. Anything under 1.5lb (according to our 4 years of testing) is not dense enough to support the weight from standing on the deck. The board will develop depressions in the deck resulting in the fiberglass pulling up from the foam, which is known as delamination. Another important build factor to consider is number of fiberglass layers and whether they are 6 or 4 ounces. It is critical for board longevity to have 3 layers of 6oz fiberglass on the deck and 2 layers on the bottom. Most of these companies will either use 4oz fiberglass or do a 2/2 layers of 6oz glass leaving the standing area subject to depressions and denting. Also make sure the board you are buying is built using Epoxy resin. Other resins such as polyester are more prone to discoloration and are easily dented and dinged.
When my board arrives how do I set it up?
Setting up your board is very easy and can be done in two steps. First, make sure your air valve is hand tight (do not over tighten) and second set up for your fin by lining up the fin plate inside of the center fin box, slotting in your fin, and aligning the screw with the fin hole and fin plate. Tighten screw, hand tight, and check about every month to make sure it is still secure. Now you are ready to paddle!
How To Care for my Equipment?
Maintenance of your Palm Paddleboard is very simple, but there are a few very important things to keep in mind. Your board’s core is made of the highest quality EPS (Expanded Poly Styrene) Foam; when the board is exposed to extreme temperatures (+85 or -60 F) the gas inside the foam expands and contracts. Your valve on the board automatically allows this gas to come in and out thereby regulating this expansion and contraction. The best way to insure your board lasts for years to come is to store it in your garage or home. Never store the boards outside where extreme temperature shifts and overexposure to the sun can result in damage to your board. When on the water or at the beach for the day and the board is not in use flip it upside down to preserve the pad and keep the board as cool as possible. While our boards are made for the outdoors practicing these few tips will ensure your boards last for many years to come!
We are confident our products represent the highest in quality control and manufacturing standards therefore we extend a 75 day warranty covering any manufacture defects. Overexposure to sun or rough treatment resulting in board damage is not covered by our warranty.
Please carefully inspect all boards upon delivery. If you notice any major damage such as holes or torn pieces please refuse the shipment and have the carrier document in writing a detailed description of the damages on the bill of lading and contact us immediately. Palm Paddle Co. cannot be held liable for damages not report upon receipt.
